Dawn

(A Poet for His purpose!)

John Swails

Comes dawn in radiant splendor
Pastel shades of every hue
Replacing night this hour
With fields of green, skies of blue

Looking east I face the sun
Blinding light of golden rays
Bringing warmth this days begun
Heavens beam with skies ablaze

The past but a memory
Precious moments I do view
Our life’s a laboratory
Their lessons we oft review

Future paths seem decisive
These we hope will bring success
Seeming sound yet defective
Failing oft we must confess

Today we have just this day
Dawn ushers in a new chance
To build our lives; this we pray
While life's path we walk or dance

As we create life’s of joy
Adding daily one by one
With this key we do employ
Seizing dawn’s phenomenon

Leaving past and the future
Holding fast just this moment
With age wisdom may mature
Giving life accomplishment

Then we place our faith in one
Who knows what our future’s hold?
His ways will not be undone
Till we walk the streets of gold

God has plans for every one
All receive His correction
Taught how to live through His Son
Life's in His resurrection

Come the dawn were replenished
One more day with Gods favor
With the night our works finished
We will rest from our labor
